Discover the captivating world of cyanotype, a historic, camera-less photographic process that uses sunlight to create beautiful blue prints.
Join Brisbane-based photo-media artist Dr Renata Buziak for a hands-on workshop exploring this fascinating technique. Using plants and found objects, you’ll experiment with light and composition to create your own unique cyanotype prints.
You’ll also make a special bookmark inspired by Sandgate’s local character and heritage — a handmade memento of the festival.
What you’ll experience
- Create three unique pieces to take home: one cyanotype print on paper, one on cotton fabric and a botanical bookmark.
- Discover the history of cyanotype and learn coating, developing and fixing techniques in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere.
- Explore the creative possibilities of botanical materials, sunlight and photographic processes.
- Gain the skills and confidence to continue experimenting with cyanotype at home.
No previous experience is necessary. All materials are included.
With a maximum of just 10 participants, this intimate workshop offers plenty of opportunity for individual guidance and experimentation.
