Publication: Heritage Hands – Volume One (2026)

A limited-edition print publication accompanying the exhibition

Volume One is the first printed work in the Heritage Hands series. Produced in a small, numbered print run, the book features:

  • Eight artisans from across Australia

  • Portrait photography

  • Process photography

  • Interviews and narrative profiles

  • Reflections on craft, culture and loss

  • Essays on the value of handmade knowledge

Designed as a contemporary heirloom, the publication is both a documentary record and a tribute to the profound cultural significance of endangered crafts.

Printed on high-quality uncoated stock with soft-touch cover and extended flaps, Volume One honours the tactile nature of the crafts it documents.

Publication: Heritage Hands – Volume Two (Late 2026)

An expanded national documentation of 18–24 artisans

Volume Two broadens the scope of Heritage Hands across Australia, featuring artisans from diverse cultural backgrounds, including:

  • First Nations makers

  • Multigenerational craft lineages

  • Migrant craft traditions

  • Regional and remote practitioners

  • Contemporary makers preserving old techniques

This volume explores the interconnectedness of heritage crafts, cultural identity and belonging. It has a broader page count (approx. 180–220 pages) and serves as the foundation for a longer-term, ongoing archive.

Volume Two builds towards a future body of work that recognises the global roots and local expressions of handmade knowledge.
